3 Facebook Myths That Are Holding Back Your Dealership

3 Facebook Myths That Are Holding Back Your Dealership GetMyAuto

Your used car dealership doesn’t need to be active on every single social network, but it should have a presence on Facebook. That’s because Facebook is simply the most popular of all social networks—and that’s probably not going to change any time soon. What’s more, Facebook Ads is the most potent and data-backed advertising platform in all of social media—and it offers ample benefit for used car dealers.

With all of that said, many dealerships are reluctant to use Facebook, or they don’t quite use it for all its worth. Often, this is due to simple misconceptions. Allow us to clear things up.

Myth #1: You only need organic reach.

One of the most common myths about Facebook is that your dealership can generate big results with organic posts alone—that is, without taking out any paid ads.

Organic reach is definitely important, and we don’t recommend slacking off in regular posting. With that said, Facebook’s algorithms basically require you to spend some advertising dollars if you wish for post to be seen.

When it comes to the old organic-versus-paid debate, it’s not either/or; it has to be both.

Myth #2: Facebook Ads is super expensive!

Some dealers avoid the Facebook Ads platform because they simply don’t think they have the budget necessary—but this is wrong-headed on a couple of levels.

First, it’s wrong because Facebook Ads allows you to set whatever budget you like, and you can actually do a lot with just a little. If nothing else, you can start with a smaller ad spend until you develop some familiarity with the platform.

And two, Facebook Ads allows you to precisely target your ads, ensuring that you only pay to have your ads seen by the consumers you’re targeting—so you can rest assured that you always get big bang for your buck.

Myth #3: You have to be a digital marketing expert to use Facebook Ads effectively.

This one is not exactly true, but it’s also not entirely false: You do need to spend some time familiarizing yourself with Facebook Ads before you start pushing a big campaign, and you should make sure you have a solid, big-picture strategy in place.

But that doesn’t mean you need a marketing degree. It just means you need to put some time into your Facebook campaign—or, work with a seasoned automotive marketing firm.

And that’s where we come in.
